Hi.
In regards to ubuntu, I have no idea about it. usually they heavily lag 
behind, and you have to do stuff manually, for e.g adding gnome  
launchpad repos.

By the way, Debian jessi will also use gnome 3.14.
One of the reasons that they are going back from xfce to gnome is 
accessibility as they mentioned, which is amazing.
Regarding sonar, There probably will be an iso, a new release
