Re: [orca-list] Asus 701 Lubuntu won't boot

Hello, I have one of the original asus netbooks which came with xandros on it. My limit was 4 gig space on an SSD ubuntu versions higher than 12.04 and anything having latest unity especially wouldn't even boot, and the rest simply wouldn't fit. install required minimum 5-6 gig, so I installed vinux 3.01 or 02 on a 16 gig sd card since nothing aside from maybe a cli/base install of kali or arch might have fit on the 4 gig drive, but this was for my kids so ease of use was at the top of the list as well as lots of games they could play. Think it was ubuntu 11.04 i installed. HTH

Hi All,
I am now working on getting Linux into my Asus 701 netbook.
It currently has XP on it.
Since it only has a 4GB SDD inside, I thought that I'd try Lubuntu 14.04.
It won't boot, as its kernel won't boot to the Intel processor inside.
Is there an easy solution to this, or if not, I'm wondering about the latest
Debian based distro that will boot up.
I was considering Arch, but I want a GUI.
Any suggestions?
I will be using Orca.
Thanks.

Glenn
