Re: [orca-list] a few questions about orca debug files

Hello,
Regarding Firefox Burt has raised a similar issue. Originally I assumed orca is relying on documentcomplete event from gecko to tell if the page has fully loaded. Now looking into the Gecko toolkit script for orca I fail to find this. I can remember NVDA having the same issue a while ago and at that time the outcome was that this is not accurate enough e.g. when starting downloading a file, when document is busy loading for a while etc. I have noticed that a workaround for this situation while using orca is to focus away from the document window and then focus back. Easiest is to alt+tab away and then back.

Greetings

Peter

hi all
Ok, I've decided it's time to double down and start helping orca,
since my emails thus far have been little more than, hi. X and Y
doesn't work, I think it's z. With not much else to back them up. I've
got a couple of questions about orca's debug files. I know how to
start orca with a debug file being generated, orca
- --debugfile=/path/to/file. There's also a setting in orca's
preferences labeled something like cycle the debug level at run time,
which is neat. I've bound this to orca+d, which works. My question is,
does this work? and if so, where are the files stored? I have a couple
of issues in orca that are fixed by restarting orca, and I don't want
to have a gigabyte of superfluous info, me reading a file, navigating
the desktop, etc before whatever the issue is. My other question is if
there is any key combination I can press, to open a window containing
developer friendly information about an object? Nvda has something
like this, you press nvda+f1 when focusd on something, and it'll open
up a window containing debug info about an object. Name, type, roll
type, control info. Sometimes it's a lot of none, or pane, but it is
there. I'm trying to debug orca on the mate panel, which while it does
work, often says "bottom expanded edge panel frame. Bottom expanded
edge panel. Panel. Name of panel icon" after every tab, but not
always. I'm also trying to debug orca's thunderbird and firefox
support. Joanie is much better at this than I am, but I'm trying to
handle issues where after a download has begun, orca cannot
structurally navigate a page unless the page is refreshed. Any
helpwould be great. I want to help orca if I can. Firefox support has
gotten much better in the last few weeks, great work all. I want to
help, instead of writing in with, hi. This doesn't work. Thanks. Etc.
Thanks
