Re: [orca-list] gedit 3.12 and accessability with orca

A couple more questions regarding orca&gedit:
I've not used 3.12 enough to tell for sure if there's a difference re orca stopping to read msg body after a
bit of use. This can happen after just a couple minutes of use, and I think sometimes happens even if focus
was never taken off of gedit message, but I can't remember for sure about that last part. It happens more
after things have been running longer, and saving message, moving or changing size seldom if ever help.
Only closing the msg and reopening will get message read again, and sometimes this is short lived.
I would not be surprised if this is due to my using xfce, (and now sometimes mate), and do not remember
having the issue on Vinux4 using orca 3.4 and the gedit version used there.

The other is gedit 3.12 specific. When I tab to the menu button after opening the menubar with f10 I get the
full list of options. If however I shift tab back to the menu button, (closer this way, I get the auto
indent configuration menu with space count options, whether to use spaces instead of tabs, etc. This is not
100% sure however. Sometimes shift-tabbing to button does open the whole menu list, but so far I can't
determine any difference in either focus or my procedure that could account for this...Is this normal, by
design, are there ways to ensure a certain responce to pressing the button other than either using tab or
shift tab to get to the menu button?

Well, now after reinstalling gedit 3.12 and plugins things do mostly work
. For some reason before when I pressed the menu button things either went silent or read an incomplete
list.
This is surely much less efficient for me having most functions in one very long list, at least where no
keyboard shortcut exists, or for functions where one doesn't use them enough to remember the keystroke;
but, it's certainly usable...
Very glad to see this/thanks again for the help.

Hey Steve.

Here is the bug for Gedit's status bar no longer being accessible:

While we're talking about gedit, I notice that I cannot read anything
on the status bar. I would like to see row/column numbers and insert
status. I can't recall if row/column info is available or not but
surely the insert status info should be. When I try to read with flat
review keys, I can't find anything. I think there is a status bar
object or image or something but I can't read it. is there a way to do
this or is this another bug in gedit and object exposure?
