Re: [orca-list] LXDE/Openbox menu accessibility

There hasn't been a major release in some time, true, but I just got updates to several xfce4 packages, with
in the last
few weeks anyway; so, I'd say it's still in active development.
Like many opensource projects resources can be tight, but I"m hoping that accessibility improvements will be
coming sooner
or later.
Is lxde still going to merge with razorqt or what ever that desktop is called, and if so, I wonder what
accessibility will
be like after the merge.
I'm just excited to see that there's quite a bit of interest in trying a variety of distros. Screenreader
users have a
variety of needs, and we do have more choices than ever before which is great. Resources can get spread very
thinly
though, so hopefully folks will learn from what other desktps and distros are doing and options will continue
to expand
and improve.
Another resource worth checking out is the vinux wiki. Some things are certainly ubuntu/vinux specific, but
many of the
articles are useful to those on other distros, and a majority of the comtent is designed for those new to the
world of
accessible Linux with some information that will be helpful to those who are a bit more advanced. New content
is in the
works and does go up from time to time; and of course contributers are welcomed.
http://vinuxproject.org/wiki/
will take you to the site.

Hi,

A general question for anyone, but especially for the person who
said that lxde seemedto be a better choice compared with xfce...
Are there some accessibility issues that lxde has resolved that

The reason why I would prefer lxde is not a lack of accessibility...I
would even say that xfce is kind of more accessible, i.e. the window
switching problem does not exist. However, it is important for me to
use software which is under active development and the last (stable)
release of xfce was about 2 years ago. Maybe I'm wrong and we will
have a new release soon.
BTW: Metacity was especially written for Gnome 2.x/fallback, so we
imho shouldn't rely too much on that distros will keep it in their repos.

Cheers,
