Hello Isaac,
The easiest way to install new software packages is via the Ubuntu
Software Center. There should be a launcher on your launcher bar.
Basically, you open Software Center, and then you can select the
category of applications you want to search. There will be a list of
available applications you can scroll through and install/uninstall.
Plus if you know the name of a specific application you can type it
into the search field to look for it and install it that way.
