Re: [orca-list] GNOME Help - Where's the Text?

Well, I got the F7 to work after a fashion. Apparently, you have to
tab once to be on the "Help image link" and then I can start pressing
down arrow to read through stuff. I wish I could give more consistent
method of using gnome help but at least for now, I can get into some
text and start getting a better idea on how to use the environment. I
thought Kyle or someone said you could navigate by header or link in
this view. I can use the arrows and hear Orca say heading or link or
whatever but I cannot use any of the quick nav keys (oops that's on
the Mac) structural navigation keys in Orca here. Do I have to
explicicitly enable them?

Oh and for the most part, I could not use the flat review keys to view
anything other than a few links. I didn't mess with it much while I
actually got the F7 thing to work though so I might look a bit more
but at least arrow keys can be used.

sorry for what might seem dumb questions here.

Hi Steve:

In order to read the text in the help screens you have to use the Orca
screen review commands on the numpad. At least, that is what I do and
it works out fine. You can read up line by line with the numpad-7 key,
current line with numpad-8 key, and next line with numpad-9 key. You
can not use the regular arrow keys which is your problem here.

Ever since this gnome shell crap has been introduced, I just haven't
been able to grasp full control like I used to have.

This time, I am trying to use GNOME help to learn keystrokes and how
to switch between tabs in the file manager (Nautilus). When I pressed
F1 while in Nautilus, I get the basic GNOME help page with a bunch of
links. I can tab around these links but I cannot use the arrow keys
for anything; they are just silent. If I hit enter on a desired link,
I get even more links to tab around to but again no body text. My big
question here is how the heck are you supposed to use GNOME Help to
gain any substance other than link farms?

I experimented with F6 and variants of F6 but to no avail. I was
thinking that might bring up a text pane like in Windows.

Any idea on what I may be missing here?
