Hello,
A while ago I was also experiencing unexpected app crashes with
libreoffice 4.0. I was unable to discover the issue however those were
no such strong crashes that I was unable to restart orca. It's
surprising that you have to restart the whole X session in order to get
orca talking again. Can you try to blindly kill soffice binary using
gnome-terminal instead if that will at least partially rescue you from
restarting the whole X session?
Last two days I have done some extensive writing using libreoffice calc
and I am surprised that I haven't noticed the crashes again during these
two days. I am running up to date gnome 3.10, orca 3.10.2 and
libreoffice 4.1.4 on arch linux.

try and give some examples of when this occurs.
Just now I was trying to set the date format for a column of cells and
after tabbing past the scroll area of date formats, Orca went
completely silent. I also had this happen when I was trying to save as
a comma delimitted file. Most of the time, this activity works fine
and I can get all the way through saving the file in this other
format. When I lost speech tonight in this save session, I was tabbing
between file types and format types.
In all these cases, I have to go to a native console as root and kill
gnome-session and speech-dispatcher and then restart gnome. I am using
latest production version of LibreOffice and a fairly recent master
build of Orca on Arch Linux.
Anyone else experiencing these hard crashes?
