You will find an icon to install Sonar on the desktop once the live
system boots. The installer is much like Ubuntu's installer.

Regarding sound card issues, the only reports I've seen about a sound
card not working have been associated with VMWare. The only other
problem I've seen reported has to do with the volume starting low, but
you can press control+super+up arrow to fix that. Hope this helps.
