Hi, Yes, on gnome 3.8 you must be enable the file manager on the desktop. If this setting is not enabled, when you are in your desktop area, orca will not say nothing. Use gnome-tweak-tool (installed by default on fedora 19) to activate the file manager on the desktop, under the "Desktop" tab of this application. Then you will have some icons on the desktop, and Orca will talk on this area. Hope this help, and sorry for the English. -- Cordialmente: Manuel Cortéz Blog: http://manuel.a12x.net V Semestre Universidad de Monterrey (Prepa UDEM) Cita: “Free software, free society” Manuel Cortéz “La libertad no es poder elegir entre unas pocas opciones impuestas, sino tener el control de tu propia vida. I just installed Fedora 19 on my Intel iMac. I started Orca and checked screen reader under Universal Access in settings. When I have an application open such as Firefox or Thunderbird, I am able to hit INsert+Space to start Orca Preferences or Insert+h to start help. When Orca is running, but no other applications are open, Insert+Space or Insert+h don't respond. Is this normal?
