Thunderbird 25 is working rather well here. I notice the same issues
with the live regions in the status bar, but not as bad as with 24. This
is more likely due to changes in Orca and at-spi than changes in
Thunderbird however. Reading e-mail messages is just as easy in 25 as it
is in 24, but performance seems to have improved somewhat, as this
version doesn't seem to pause while receiving new messages. I don't
receive very much HTML e-mail, and I usually read the messages I receive
using the navigation keys and the say all key, so I can't fully comment
on whether or not the problem I have with lists in Firefox is also
present in Thunderbird, but I am seeing Thunderbird 25 as an overall
improvement over 24 without some of the Firefox regressions. Hope this
helps.
