You could also check out Nama as well. Julian seems to be using it without problems. It is CLI, so a11y shouldn't be an issue. Bill On 03/25/2013 09:07 AM, Alex Midence wrote:
this is quite true. Wxwidgets being somewhat inaccessible is something longstanding and well-known. It's a shame since there are lots of very nice applications that are written in this library which the a11y issues keep us from using. To work on it, I believe you have to have the following going for you: 1. Be knowledgeable in c++. 2. Have the time. 3. Have the willingness. 4. Understannd accessibility in a Linux environment with at-spi well enough to tweak the library. I made peace with the fact that this is moste unlikely to get fixed and just keep away from wxwidget apps in Gnome altogether. I'm glad to hear that Audacity works as well as it does though. On linux this toolkit does not implement proper accessibility for lists, tables and treeviews. I am afraid this is not going to be fixed at least not anytime soon unless anyone knowledgeable and passionate enough is willing to kick in. Effects need a little flat review love, since the first widget in a window doesn't get focus as it should. Also, the tabs on the preferences window are only announced as panels, but the options work fine. Also, if you have multiple tracks, you need to count from the top or bottom beep to find which one to select.Have you reported these and any other issues to the Audacity developers as bugs? One of the principal authors of Audacity, Dominic Mazzoni, now works in accessibility at Google. I don't know whether he is involved in Audacity anymore however. _______________________________________________ orca-list mailing list orca-list gnome org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/orca-list Visit http://live.gnome.org/Orca for more information on Orca.
