Right, and just to be clear, you have to install the libreoffice-gnome
package, not just libreoffice. First I did "apt-get install libreoffice"
based on some of the other responses. And I got libreoffice calc on my
office menu. But it was not accessible. They I tried "apt-get install
libreoffice-gnome" and then I was able to read the spreadsheet.
Unrealted to orca but one thing lame about libreoffice calc is that the
default field seperator for a csv import is a semicolon. Csv sands for
comma seperated values. The default should be comma. The first import I
did got messed up because of this. But I figured it out.

Or, you could save a bunch of time and just do:
Apt-get install libreoffice-gnome
That should bring in all the packages you need. Beware upgrading to Wheezy
from Squeeze. You will be using a very different accessibility
infrastructure i.e. Corba versus DBus. It may introduce some issues to you.
Also, the interface for Gnome will be quite different, Wheezy uses Gnome
3.4.2 where Squeeze uses 2.28. I have a Squeeze installation at home which
I have set up and leave as is due to its rock hard stability and it works
just fine with LibreOffice Calc.
Another thing you may wish to do, especially since you have Squeeze, is
enable the contrib and non-free packages in your /etc/apt/sources.list file
and then get actual OpenOffice. For that, you would do:
Apt-get install openoffice-gnome
You will be able to access your csv file accessibly with either solution.
And, without need for long, time-consuming upgrades which you will probably
want to do another time when your goal isn't just to read a simple file and
go on about your other concerns.
Regards,
Alex M
