I did mention copying /etc/pulse/client.conf and enabling autospawn, but
this is in a different message, and likely even a different thread.
Anyway, copying the file to /var/lib/gdm/.config/pulse and enabling
autospawn in the new file should get your login speaking. If all else
fails, you can run
sudo pacman -Rs gnome gnome-extra xorg
sudo pacman -S gnome gnome-extra xorg
but this should be done only as a last resort, and is probably not
needed. Hope this helps.
