PackageKit is a cross-package installation mechanism, with an API. For example, if Totem tries to paly a 
video for you and gstreamer reports that the codec for the video is not installed, totem/gstreamer can then 
use packagekit to search for, and install the necessary package for you, of course the package in questino 
has to be in a repository you have enabled in yum/apt/pacman etc.
