I'm not very optimistic about the future of libreoffice bugs 50926 and
56031 at bugs.freedesktop.org for two reasons.
1) The last comment on 56031 confirms it's still there in a beta of
LO4.0 and
2) The small accessibility community around LO is more worried by
improving windows access. 

Has anyone tried apache openoffice? 
If not I might try the instructions at:
http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-openoffice-org-on-fedora-centos-red-hat-rhel/
and see if it works.
