Re: [orca-list] [ot] no more GPG signed e-mail

Yeah, I'm in agreement here. It's a very mild annoyance. What bothers the
holy living ahem ... never mind out of me is return receipt requests on
messages posted to the list. There is someone here who has all of there
messages request a read receipt. It creates a pop-up for me and is very
annoying aside from the fact that I se no reason whatsoever why anyone needs
to acknowledge receipt of everyone of this person's postings to a public
mailing list. Only other person who sends these out to me is my boss on
time-sensitive stuff and that makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks.
Alex M

I guess someone could complain about the two lines I see at the top of every
message, but they're easy enough to ignore and much less bothersome than
some examples of poor list etiquette. I'm surprised it could bother someone
enough to spend the time to complain about it. I guess if it were me, I'd be
tempted to ignore those complaints. Security is worth something after all.

Hi,

although this obviously wasn't meant to open a discussion, I have to
reply anyway as I had a similar discussion on another ml these days.
I just don't understand all the trouble people have with pgp-signed
messages. Although inline pgp (and that's the only reasonable way to
include signatures into mailing lists as mime attachments might be
dropped by mailman) might confuse users without a corresponding
client/plugin, it doesn't prevent them from reading and enjoying mails
as signatures are placed below the text. There might be issues for
some users prefering TO quote whole conversations again and again, but
that's imho only another reason to generally think about quoting more
carefully.
Generally, it would be helpful to provide a link to the public key or
some info where to find it so that people can verify the signature. I
haven't done this so far either but will include a signature with
corresponding information as soon as I have more time. Actually, you
can find my public key on some of the well-known public servers:).

Cheers,
Jakob
