Re: [orca-list] Orca key wiped out today

Alex, thanks for the good wishes. Yes, the waters have often been rough,
and I expect that to continue. I guess I'm supposed to be *thrilled* with
the opportunities, but maybe I'm not a real geek. :-)

So far, the storms have almost all been from trying to figure out Gnome
3.4.2 or whatever it is, and Orca itself. Fedora doubtless has its own
surprises, but I chose it carefully for a couple of reasons, and presumably
will stick with it for a while.

I was glad to find that my few key bindings additions work, by the way.

Boy! That Fedora machine's putting you through the wringer there, Al.
Hope that OS proves worth all the trouble it's putting you through.
I started experimenting with keyboard layouts over the weekend with Debian
and Ubuntu and did so with a great deal of trepidation remembering your
rather unpleasant experience last week. Let's hope it's smooth sailing for
you henceforth.

best Regards,
alex M

Al,

I am glad that it worked out for you, and I am always glad to be of
help if I am able to do so.

Take care.

Bob, you did help. It seems that I accidentally changed my Orca
modifier key to the regular insert key when I was adding my
keystrokes. (I'm sure it wasn't numlock, anyway.) It took me several
tries, but it looks like things are working as they should. It's
thanks to you.

Hello, Al.

I do not have the solution to your problem, unfortunately. You may
already know this, but I am writing in case maybe you do not. You can
access the Orca preferences window by hitting ALT+F2 to open the Run
Command prompt, type in the command:

orca -s

And press ENTER. This will open the Orca Preferences window.

I hope that this helps in some small way.

qTake care.

Hello!

I was trying to add a couple of keystrokes to the Orca keybindings.
I did one I didn't mean to, thought I'd fixed it, then tried another.
Somehow, I lost the use of the Orca key. I've rebooted twice, but
it's still lost.

This is not like the problem last week, when pressing other keys
acted as if I'd just pressed the Orca key. I can't even get to the
Orca preferences, or do anything else requiring the Orca key.

The capslock is behaving normally, and numlock is off, so those
things don't seem to be the trouble.

Thanks for any help.

Al
