Alex, you sent this to me (and only me). Not sure if you meant to sent it to just John or to the entire Orca
list. So.... I won't forward this; merely letting you know. <smiles>
Take care.

You know, John, now I think on it, Fedora might be the best compromise
between Centos and ubuntu for you. Fedora is closely related to Red
Hat which is what centos is related to and it's got a modern a11y
experience with Orca especially since that's the distro Joannie has
said she uses when developing Orca. You may need sighted assistance
to get it going but, apparently, you should be good to go once you are
done with the setup process. There are three other people on this
list I know of who use it.
best regards,

hi
Ubuntu 12.04 would probably be a good choice. They're not on the
bleeding edge but they're reasonably up to date. They're currently
using orca v3.4.2 if I remember correctly, and the latest is 3.6.2.
Actually, the latest is 3.6.3. Which should fix this problem:
I'd say
arch, but I'm not currently sure if it is arch's orca package, or
orca in general but orca is broken and requires a manual edit of one
of it's python files to get it to start.
Hope this helps!
