The problems with textboxes appears to have been resolved in qt-at-spi 
some time in September, so it's likely that Ubuntu 12.10 and any 
derivatives that included qt-at-spi didn't get the fix yet. However, as 
soon as the newest version is incorporated into a KDE-based distro, 
textboxes should work as expected, both in KDE and other qt applications 
as well.
