Re: [orca-list] orca and lxde

hi,

i don't know.
but i guess orca 3 would also still support gtk2 libs.
cause some programms are still made in gtk2.

maybe someone can test that?

greetings,
simon

Good,
But this also means IMHO that we will be using gnome 2 type of libraries? Will we be able to use the latest Orca or will have to depend on xdesktop versions?
Happy hacking.

Hi all,

Regarding running Orca on LXDE I am translating the message from Klaus i just received:
I don't know if Klaus reads this list or not.

--------------

It's not difficult to get orca running on lxde and most components of lxde are able to interact with orca thanks to gtk2. There is an issue to put the focus to the taskbar of lxpanel where the current running plugins are sitting. Other things work good. The lxde start menu is not on alt+f1 by default but that can be set.

to get it running there have to be the following environment variables set before lxde starts.

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gtk" GTK_MODULES="gail:atk-bridge"

in knoppix these variables are in the file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45knoppix
then lxde can be started.

This was a very rough translation.
So maybe soneone can use that for a nicer howto.

Greetings,
Simon
