Re: [orca-list] found Unity 2D extremely comfortable, just had few doubts

Yes. You are correct on that one. I just tested that out. I love all of the control which I have from the keyboard!

Best wishes.

I believe that shifting the super-key+number keys will launch a new instance of your app, rather than switch.

Hello, Dave.

I have never used a Mac, so I don't know anything about how the first
letter navigation works, but Unity has a pretty nice feature. Say your
launcher is ordered like this:

1 - Home Folder
2 - Firefox
3 - LibreOffice Calc
4 - GNOME Terminal
...and so on...

What you can do is hold down the Super (Windows) key on your keyboard
and then press the number which corresponds to the application's
position on the launcher. Say, for example, that Firefox is set as the
second application down on the launcher. You would simply press Super+2
to open Firefox. Once you get to know at which position each application
is located on the launcher this becomes quite an efficient way to
quickly access your favorite applications.

I hope that this is of some help to you.

Take care.

I think of the launcher as being similar to the doc in OSX, but
without the dock's 1st-letter navigation (Hey, Unity, that would be
nice).

Hi Dave,

"One way to ad apps to the launcher (the menu accessed by 'alt+f1),
launch the app you want from the 'run' bar or a keyboard shortcut. Next, find the now-running app on the launcher, and hit 'right' one, maybe two times, until it says 'add to launcher'. Hitting this option will add the app to the launcher for future sessions. I think the mouse user is able
to move launcher items with drag and drop; not sure how to do this
eyes-free."

Thanks for the tip. That makes adding items to the Launcher much easier.
I was using Software Center to do this, and it isn't exactly too
friendly in Precise.. I'm glad to know there is an easier way to add
items to the Launcher..

Cheers!
