Re: [orca-list] Best editor for latex

If you are going to use Emacspeak, be advised that espeak doesn't work well with it in Precise out of the box.  You need to recompile Espeak against pulse audio.  This is done by editing the make file of Espeak and telling it to use pulse instead of portaudio.  Only trouble is, there is something wrong with the libraries or development file it needs to do this.  I get compilation errors every time.  Emacspeak is virtually unusable in Ubuntu 12.04 currently unless you choose a different speech synthesizer than the one that comes with the distribution.  Lots of Emacspeak users are partial to Voxin which is virtually identical to eloquence in windows.  It is said to be hard to install though I have never tried.

AucTeX mode in Emacs. If you want braille output, be sure to run it from the
console. If you want speech output, be sure to use Emacspeak.
