Well, I am using the latest Orca 3.4.2.
Happy hacking.

I tried Thunderbird 13.
But no luck.
I press enter on the executable, but Orca does not respond for long time.
My wife looked at the screen and told me that password prompt had come
long before Orca ever responded.
This means that there is some veard thing happening with Orca.
I don't see this problem with Thunderbird 12 and Orca 3.1.9.
All other things such as the list of emails not working with Orca after
a new email is received are well known to users.
I also don't see this problem.
I guess we are also aware that Key echo and word echo does not work when
we write an email.
I do see this problem.
I think these problems are well understood, and I think w'ere waiting
for fixes from Mozilla, but I just found i interesting that I don't see
these problems with Orca xdesktop-3.1.9.
Happy hacking.

I don't know anything about Trisquel, but couldn't you use apt-get to
update Firefox?
Also, I'm still running Vinux 3.2.1 with Gnome 2 and Orca 3.1.9 on my
production system. I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 3.1 to
Thunderbird 12, and I don't have any problems with Thunderbird at all.
could it be the problems that people are seeing with newer versions of
Thunderbird have to do with the interaction between the newer versions
of Thunderbird and the newer versions of Orca or one of the pieces of
the accessibility infrastructure?

Well, with reference to Trisquel, this is my ideal wishlist.
1, latest version of Firefox and Orca to make web accessibility like in
Ubuntu Precise
2, preferabally an older version of thunderbird may be 3.1 or so
3, a well behaved version of Libre Office calc
Rest all seems to be perfectly ok.
Happy hacking.

Hi Krishnakant,
When I checked the beta it was using Gnome 3.2 and Orca 3.2.1 I
believe. However, Gnome 3.2 was setup to boot in fallback mode so it
had a Gnome 2.x look and feel. As Dave says it is quite accessible,
but I prefer Ubuntu as I have access to newer packages etc faster.
Cheers!

Huh, Ubuntu 11.10?
Which version of gnome 3 and Orca comes with it?

Trisquel is a desktop Linux distribution, for use in homes, small

and has the endorsement of the Free Software Foundation. It is based
on Ubuntu 11.10, but with Unity, Ubuntu1, Software Center, Ubuntu
branding, and support for proprietary firmware and applications
removed, leaving a performant, stable, and reliable classic Gnome 3
experience. I run Trisquel on an Asus netbook, very well. Please
visit http://trisquel.info to download the system and learn more. If
you boot the I18N DVD edition, orca will come up talking at system
start. Once the system is live-booted, you have a fully-functional
Trisquel environment, from which you can test it for compatibility
with your hardware, run the included apps, install the system to your
hard drive or a virtual machine, and more.

1) What is Trisquel and what is it for? Is it a Linux/Unix

I'm assuming that this means that a Linux OS is being emulated

I want to migrate to a Linux system because I'm a retired Software
