Hi,
On a Debian or Ubuntu system, if it can't find something, you usually need it's -dev package. This may not be
the exact name, but try a search for python-dbus-dev or
something similar. BTW, to search for packages, you can run
aptitude search someRandomName
If it finds any packages, it should come up with a list of their state (if they're installed, need an update,
purged or whatever in some weird letter form), their name and
a brief description. It might look something like:
i gnome-orca - Scriptable screen
reader
I personally don't use Debian-based stuff myself (I did for a while, but have been using Gentoo for coming up
on a year now), so I may have slightly outdated info.
Hope it helps,

Hi again
sorry if I missed this, but it occurred to me to try to recompile orca 3.3.4. When I ran
./configure
it said that the package python-dbus was missing. When I did sudo apt-get install python-dbus, it said I
already had the package installed. But it seems like it is a problem with python-DBus.

welp, the files I mentioned appear to be there in a place I'd really
expect is searched by default, I don't have any immediate ideas other
than to maybe strace python and run from gi.Repository import Atspi by
hand and see where it looks.
Alternatively you could try reinstalling atspi for the lols and see if
that magically fixes it.
