Re: [orca-list] How to Get and Use Orca Master

Robert,
You're welcome. I don't use Mint, so I can't help you with your repository issue. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 alpha, along with Orca master. So far, things seam to be going well. I think you will enjoy 12.04 when it comes out.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks for the response, Jeremy.

I successfully installed python-jsonpickle, but I am still having the
same issue when I try to run build-dep. here is what happens:

bob bgc-desktop1 ~ $ sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to find a source package for gnome-orca

The only line in my /etc/apt/sources.list reads as follows:

deb-src http://packages.linuxmint.com/ lisa main upstream import

I saw a sample of Ubuntu's sources.list, but I will have to post on the
Linux Mint forums and figure out why the Ubuntu source repos aren't there.

If I can get through Fedora's firstboot program, I may just install
Fedora 16, otherwise I am just going to wait until Ubuntu 12.04 comes out.

Thanks again for the help with the package to install, Jeremy. It is
much appreciated!

Robert,
To fix python-json, you need the package python-jsonpickle.

Hope this helps,
Jeremy

Hi,
I've never used that distro, but have a look in
/etc/apt/sources.list. If you see any commented lines that look
something like:
# deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib
remove the number sign from those lines, and do a "sudo apt-get
update", then "sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca". That should do it.
If you don't have a line like that in your /etc/apt/sources.list,
google should help you on what to enter to make it work.

Thanks for the link, Timothy.

I tried to follow the steps on my Linux Mint 12 system, but I am having
a few problems.

Firstly, when I run 'sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca', I get the
following:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to find a source package for gnome-orca

Also, all packages seem to install fine except python-json. I receive
this message:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package python-json is not available, but is referred to by another
package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'python-json' has no installation candidate

What exactly am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.
