Hi.

You need to get festival and possibly flite to talk through pulse
audio. I wrote an article on how to do this. You can find it by
searching the vinux-support google groupe's archives. Just go to
www.googlegroups.com and find the vinux support list. Once there, you
can run a search in the archive for the html attachment. I would post
it here but I don't have it handy at the moment. There's a file you
have to edit namely the init.scm file in the festival directory under
/usr/share but I am going from memory here and I haven't done it in a
while. I will say that it was a rather colossal pain in the old
posterior and, in the end, I was disappointed with the results and
went right back to espeak. Festival just wasn't fast enough for me.
The svox pico voices were quite promising but I just haven't had the
time to try and make them jump through hoops properly. One thing's
sure, you have your work cut out for you. You'll be at it for at
least an hour testing and tweaking till you get it going. I very
definitely do *not* recommend you doing it unless you have a talking
console through speakup or yasr because there's a real risk of losing
speech with Orca getting this to work. and oh, but wasn't that a real
desk pounder for me! I'm telling you, if you have Espeak working
already, you may find it was best to just to have let that sleeping
dog lie a-snoozing in the end.

Hello something else I am trying to set up under orca and ubuntu 12 is
festival and flite.
I uncommented the proper speech synths under
/etc/speechdespatcher/speech.conf.
and I have installed festival and flite speech tts engines.
rebootted the machine
how ever they aren't showing up under the speech synths under orca voice
speech synthisizer list.
is there any other steps I need to perform?
