Re: [orca-list] thunderbird getting bad to worst, is evolution a good choice?

Hi krishnakant,

Can a I offer you a different suggestion? I use gmail, the same as you do, and I don't even bother with Evolution, Thunderbird, etc. I just log into my account via Firefox and read and respond to my e-mail via the web interface. I think you would be better off going that route. Especially, if you go into options and set it up to display everything as straight html. It works pretty well with Orca and Firefox 10.02.

Hello all,
I write this message with a great deal of frustration, but still
hoping for a solution patiently.
Thunderbird is getting bad to worst and I think I can't stay with it any more.
As suggested by all of you on my thread about huge inbox, I resized my
mail box as attila recommended.
I applied filter and now have only 1500 emails in my inbox.
But now Thunderbird does not respond at all.
I nither here it start nor it does any thing to let me know that
password box is come.
If I do enter a password, I manage to get to the list of emails after 5 minutes.
Orca is extremly sluggish to respond when I move around in the list of emails.
Now when I hit enter on an email or press f6, I don't find any way to
read the message.
I press tab and then shift tab, after which some times Orca reads the message.
Once the message is closed, Orca becomes scilent again.
So while these bugs get fixed, can some one give me the best email solution?
I have to read and reply a lot of emails every day.
I have a lot of attachments that come my way in form of odt and ods files.
I need to often attach documents myself.
I also need a good serch feature so that I can look at my archives.
With my given requirement, is alpine good or mutt?
Or if I were to go for a gui based client, how good is evolution?
Do I get all my above mentioned requirements satisfied with it?
I remember some one had given me a sample file for configuring alpine
and some notes on using it.
As I said I can't use thunderbird any more, so it would be a great
help if the same instructions are sent to me again.
I think it was jasen who did help out on that?
Happy hacking.
Krishnakant.
