I downloaded and installed debian wheezy on a machine last week. Its
very nice in that if you do a talking install, orca is enabled on the
login screen. But I have one problem. When I open a gnome-terminal
window, orca says its inaccessible.
Try adding/uncommenting the following settings in the
[daemon] section of your /etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf:
--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
[daemon]
AddGtkModules=true
# By default, these are the accessibility modules.
GtkModulesList=canberra-gtk-module:gail:atk-bridge
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---
the canberra-gtk-module is not accessibility relevant at all, but gail
and atk-bridge are, at least with at-spi 1.
The changes will get active with your next Gdm restart.
