Hi. I plan on installing Ubuntu 11.04 with wubi sometime later tonight. I understand the steps to be similar to the following: 1. Download wubi 2. Fill in the form with all required info 3. Press the accessibility button and choose visibility aid 3 for screen reader 4. Press the next button to close the accessibility window 5. Press the install button. 6. Wait for 5 minutes for the sources to download 7. Wait 2 more minutes for it to verify and copy installer files 8. When requested, restart the computer 9. When the boot loader appears, choose Ubuntu (check with boot.ini in windows—it will tell you where Ubuntu is in the list) 10. Wait for a “long time” for the automated installer to finish—don’t press any buttons or you will have a crashed Ubuntu install 11. Wait for the computer to restart 12. When the boot loader appears, choose Ubuntu 13. When grub appears, choose linux/generic 14. When the login screen appears, sign in with the username/password given to wubi 15. Orca will start My question about these steps is: 1. How can you tell when grub shows up? 2. What item in the list is linux/generic? i.e. How many times do you press down arrow to get to it? 3. How can you tell the login screen appears? Tnx for all of the help. |
