Indeed, thanks. It works as well as specifying gnome-session. Not
better, though.

That's good news ! So most probably not much is missing !

No. How can I check this ?
I'm not even sure it's installed.
I used apt-file search and it seems this is present in gdm3 package.
Do I have to install gdm3 ?

Is this daemon supposed to be running even when in text-mode, or is it
started only when the graphical interface starts ?
