Hi Nolan,
Other vms can use pulse directly like kvm and virtualbox.
But kvm needs virtualisation support with in your cpu.
For vmplayer try the folowing:
1.
cp /etc/pulse/default.pa ~/.pulse
2. edit ~/.pulse/default.pa and load the alsa module manualy
by removing the '#' from the line:
#load-module module-alsa-sink
3. aditionaly add
load-module module-alsa-sink device=dmix
After reboot, pulse shouldn't block the audio hardware by using alsa's
mix plugin.
Now you can start vmplayer using aoss which redirects oss sound to alsa.
