Hy,

Luciano, look following description part with espeak help:
"-a <integer>
           Amplitude, 0 to 200, default is 100"

So, if you would like recording the text with maximum volume, not the 
default 100 volume value, run following command:
espeak -v en -f book.txt -a 200 -w book.wav
Lover than 100 amplitude setted recorded sound resulting lover volume sound.
