Hello,My friend Martin Sukanà wrote small bash scripts to convert texts to mp3 using espeak or festival.
Try these, put them in your /usr/bin and conf files in /etc.Run mp3text -f file name to convert using espeak, I haven't tried festival yet.
Adjust configuration if you want. Hope it helps, Vojta On 23.10.2010 20:26, Luciano de Souza wrote:
Hi listers,Having arrived to Linux few months ago, I felt the lack of an important feature: conversors from text to audio files. My first atempt was Gespeaker, however, it was unsuccessfull because of two reasons:1. Having pasted long texts in Gespeaker interface, I was not able to convert then. Regarding that I want to convert books to read in MP3 players, this limitation was extreme.2. The short texts I could convert were made of one track only. If I want to read books, it's fundamental to divide the output file in several tracks, allowing the easy navigation among contents.I can read in front of the computer, but I'm not used to do it. Much more confortable it's to read whereever we are. Because of that, the quantitiy of reading after Linux migration reduced significantly. What do you suggest me to recover the past style of reading? Are there other conversors like that?If not, does speak have line commands to automatize this type of conversion?I don't know if this question is appropriate for this group, but as I don't know where to do it...Regards, Luciano de Souza _______________________________________________ orca-list mailing list orca-list gnome org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/orca-list Visit http://live.gnome.org/Orca for more information on Orca. The manual is at http://library.gnome.org/users/gnome-access-guide/nightly/ats-2.htmlThe FAQ is at http://live.gnome.org/Orca/FrequentlyAskedQuestionsNetiquette Guidelines are at http://live.gnome.org/Orca/FrequentlyAskedQuestions/NetiquetteGuidelinesLog bugs and feature requests at http://bugzilla.gnome.org Find out how to help at http://live.gnome.org/Orca/HowCanIHelp
