Re: [orca-list] reviewing cell formula in oo spreadsheet

Yes, it seems that we do have a shortcut for just reading the equation

orca+a

it is amazing what orca+control+space, and keybindings tab can bring out.

I am sure that you were looking for this one. :)

All the best.

Hi Krishnakant,

It is already commited to the gnome-2-30 branch.

As for reading the formula, i dont know, but i tried the following:
in a1, i wrote 300, in b1 i wrote 100, in c1 i wrote =a1-b1
when i moved away from the c1 cell, it displays 200 as expected.
If i go back to the c1 cell, and press f2, and use the arrow keys i can
review the formula.

Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks jon.
I would suggest this has to come in the latest stable version.
Perhaps we can have orca 2.31.2 because we are not doing any
fundamental changes but this is a very important change for
spreadsheet users.
As a side note, I want to know if there is a keyboard command to
read a formula instead of the calculated value in a cell.

Happy hacking.

Hi Krishnakant,

Actually you dont need to apply it, since my last email, it has been
commited to master, so if you just pull from master and recompile orca it
should work for you.

All the best.

Hi Krishnakant,

The attachment for bug 617603 should fix this.

Could you please patch your orca and confirm that it is fixed for you?

Thanks

Hi Krishnakant.

This sounds like structural navigation is kicking in when it should not
be, which is extremely odd since it is off by default in OpenOffice. And
I thought I had added a check to prevent it from kicking in when in Calc
regardless.

Please file a bug against Orca. Thanks!

Hello all.
I never discovered this because I always turn off the echo by character
feature.
I type so fast that it is not at all usefull for me, infact counter
productive.
But today I was setting up Orca for a computer lab for blind where they
are going to create spoken tutorials for it.
this is a government funded project and the aim is to create audio
tutorials for Orca. They will be small enough (10 or 15 minits each)
and will focus on one topic at a time.
any ways back to the issue at hand.
When I checked the checkbox for echo by character and started typing in
the open office spreadsheet, I discover that the first character is not
spoken.
for example when I type "name" in the a1 cell, orca responds as,
"leaving table, a,m, e ".

meaning, it skips the N and says "leaving table ".

Has some one else faced the same problem?

Happy hacking.
Krishnakant.
