For podcatching, I've just been using an old perl script I adapted
from something called castgrab or something like that. I run that
from the command line but listen to the shows on my VR Stream or with
other players separate from the pod catcher.
As for players, I like diritives of mplayer. I either use mplayer
from the command line or I will often use gnome-mplayer which
integrates with mplayer. I also like totem movie player but for some
stupid reason, I can't seek inside mp3s with Totem. Totem seeks fine
with .ogg files but not for mp3. gnome-mplayer works and seeks real
good but I've encountered some stability problems I can't seem to pin
down. Totem proves most stable for me.
