Hi Mike,

        Yes we looked at gypi, they'll support GSettings when they support GVariant properly [1]. By the 
moment there isn't support GSettings in python. :( That's why we choose another option. There's good 
utilities to port from GConf to GSettings. The transition from GConf to GSettings is far easier than current 
orca settings system to GConf or Gsettings directly.
