I've noticed something similar to what you describe in Thunderbird,
where it seems to stick on links, but the only time I notice something
close to your problem in Firefox is when the page automatically reloads
every minute or so. There's a way to turn that off in Firefox
preferences, IIRC it's in the advanced options.
