Re: [orca-list] Which web browser does Orca work well with?

Hi,

If you're looking for speed and not the usual laggetry of orca in
Firefox, use Lynx or eLinks with speakup in a console. Firefox
performance in Linux is one of my big reasons why I use textmode for
all my linux stuff, saves a lot of headaches.
And other browsers that work well with Orca? None thus far, firefox is
the only one. Man, if Chrome gets accessible, I'd convert to the GUI
on linux for that! :)

Just forgot to mention a couple of things.
I find that some major sites like facebook and the news paper I read are
pritty accessible with orca and firefox.
I think pages with a lot of content give the problem of sluggish
behaviour when navigating with arrows.

Happy hacking.

Hi,

I have heard that Firefox is the best candidate for accessibility both
on Windows and on Linux. However, it appears Orca's support for
Firefox is very lacking. My points follow:

1. When navigating quickly, Orca keeps speaking the lines one has
passed, and the user must keep pressing ctrl for about five to ten
seconds, depending on the speed of arrowing down, to make it quiet down.
2. When deleting with the delete key, the letter the cursor is
pointing at is announced about three to five times, making the writing
of text quite cumbersome and slow.
3. Orca is very sluggish when it comes to Firefox. There is a large
delay between pressing an arrow key, (especially up/down), and getting
speech feedback. This delay is multiplied when navigating between form
fields with tab.
...

I do not remember the rest at the moment, but basically, my browsing
experience has not been pleasant at all. The only website I have no
trouble using is google.com, because it only has three input fields,
and the text input is already focussed as the page loads.

So, are there any alternatives?
