Hi,
I have heard that Firefox is the best candidate for accessibility both
on Windows and on Linux. However, it appears Orca's support for Firefox
is very lacking. My points follow:
1. When navigating quickly, Orca keeps speaking the lines one has
passed, and the user must keep pressing ctrl for about five to ten
seconds, depending on the speed of arrowing down, to make it quiet down.
2. When deleting with the delete key, the letter the cursor is pointing
at is announced about three to five times, making the writing of text
quite cumbersome and slow.
3. Orca is very sluggish when it comes to Firefox. There is a large
delay between pressing an arrow key, (especially up/down), and getting
speech feedback. This delay is multiplied when navigating between form
fields with tab.
...
I do not remember the rest at the moment, but basically, my browsing
experience has not been pleasant at all. The only website I have no
trouble using is google.com, because it only has three input fields, and
the text input is already focussed as the page loads.
So, are there any alternatives?
