Re: [orca-list] speech engines

only thing keeping me from switching to Linux entirely is I can't get my
internal laptop mike to work, and the fact that I don't know any app that is
accessible enough to let me multi-track my vocals as well as do a full on
midi sequence, and be able to mixdown the midi to an mp3. Now, if I could
do that, I'd switch primarily to Linux in a heartbeat.

So, yeah, you tell me how to do that, and I'll gladly switch. Now
obviously, I'd not use the internal mike for vocal pro audio related stuff
but for voice chat it is wonderful.

Chris.

yes, in ubuntu or vinux if you want a sound editor there is always audacity
that works good with orca. And you can always run windows xp in a virtual
machine if you want under vmware in vinux. And vinux does not get windows
viruses or windows spyware. there's no registry to clean and disk defragment
is not needed either. Vinux ubuntu is just excellent! and in my opinion if
you have an older system you can if you don't have the ram for vinux you can
run grml, knoppix adriane, or talking arch linux.

hey while you are at the center be sure to get people using ubuntu or
vinux.
Vinux is a great alternative for those who cannot afford windows or a mac.
I use vinux3.0 with orca and gnome and really love it lots. Its in a virtual
machine but still its excellent! Oh and setting it up with voxin was easy to
do. For people who can't afford windows viruses windows spyware and the high
price of windows in general vinux with orca yasr brltty speakup is excellent
with voxin and you can also use festival and cepstral with it .

Hi
I went to the colorado center for the blind from july of 2008 through
april of 2009. Now I will attend capella online university for a degree in
information technology starting this October. I was able to get voc rehab to
get me a macbook pro for college. I got it and love it it works great.

I guess I am confused as I thought Accapjpella was different from

BTW, on another note: just curious, are you the same Josh Kennedy who a
while back went to the Denver NFB Colorado Center for the blind? I have a
friend who just recently graduated who said he was told you once went there.
That's totally cool, if so. What a small world.

Chris.

Hi yes but acapela-group will not give up infovox230 even though it is
15 years old.

If you can figure out how to use open-sapi with speech-dispatcher, and
how to get it working with Orca, then a whole world of voices will obviously
open up. Good luck though. I got open sapi to work independently, but not
with Orca. There's always flite, or Festival, but ewww! The Cepstral
voices work, Mbrella works, I think there is a version of DecTalk, Dono what
else. You should try to get Infovox ported over. Weren't you the guy who
really loved that set of voices?

what other speech engines work with speech dispatcher and orca besides
