Hi,
When I had 8.10, I had to go to the desktop, hit the application key,
and choose "Change Desktop Background'. In that dialog there's an
group of radio buttons that say visualization. Set it to no
visualization, and you should be able to go to the panels again.

Hi,
Just a quick test. Does ctrl-alt-tab get to the top panel? If not it's
probably something to do with the desktop visualizations. I had a
similar problem with Ubuntu 8.10.
So what did you do to solve in 8.10?
Happy hacking.
Krishnakant.
