Re: [orca-list] A question for you Archlinux users

Be careful with what I say, I might screw you up worse that your
machine is now. But I believe that should be (hd0,1) instead of
(hd0,0) but then again, I'm using grub2 here. Also, why not install
grub on the same drive linux is on? I also thought windows had to be
on the first available partition. I have always had good luck with
putting my boot sectors on the MBR of my first hard drive. Like in my
case, I say 'grub-install /dev/sda' and can boot both platforms any
time I want. I have Windows on /dev/sda1 and my linux stuff on
/dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdb2. Furthermore, sdb1 is my main linux partition
and sdb2 is the /home directory.

Hi all,
OK, this has nothing to do with Orca, but maybe someone is able to assist me with this.
I have installed Arch onto my first harddrive, in this case sda and I have windows on my other one, sdb. I
selected to install the Grub boot loader onto my sdb harddrive, and I also selected to install it onto
partition 1, not in the MBR of sdb. But my system doesn't boot.
In the menu.lst I specified hd0,0 as the default one, but it doesn't work.
Any tips?
Many thanks,
Christian
