I just tryed Ubuntu 10.04 beta 2 and it worked for me.
I pressed space bar (will try out tab afterwards ) and it worked for me 
absolutely fine.
What I exactly did was that when the cd was starting to boot, I just 
pressed the space bar.  The tip for blind users is to wait for about 8 
seconds after your cd rom starts to vibrate for the first time.
even safer press the space bar after the first 5 seconds and take a gap 
of 5 seconds and press it again.
The fact I observed is that after switching the machine on with the cd, 
the time when cd rom starts to vibrate in full speed, the logo is being 
displayed.  This is the right time to press the space bar.
Now you get your old style boot options.
