Hello,
Orca still uses brltty for Braille output in gnome with applications
like openoffice, firefox, etc. Orca does it by passing brltty the
information on what should be shown rather than brltty gathering the
screen information from its own internal driver. So when you have brltty
running but until you enable Braille support in orca when in gnome you
will find your Braille display says "screen not in text mode", but when
you turn on Braille support your Braille display should give useful output.
One good thing with this is that when you go from gnome to a text
console (eg. ctrl+alt+f1) Braille will just continue to work, it works
just as well when moving back to gnome.

Hi folks,
From what I've been reading, BRLTTY is used to provide Braille access during a console session. But is there
anything for Orca to use when implementing Braille access to the graphical GNOME Desktops and applications
such as Open Office?
Thanks
