Hi Ron:
The choice of "full stop" is most likely the TTS engine. You can
override this in Orca, but it's currently not a trivial thing to do
(i.e., we don't give you a WIMP/GUI interface to do it).
If you search for "How do I define my own punctuation or character
pronunciations?" on the Orca frequently asked questions page, however,
you should be able to find the answer:
