and all sound
Whoops hit send too soon. In the system preferences, down to volume
control, and on the alsa panel fo to SWITCHES, and add a checkmark to
tghe use phones as line output, and my laptop speakers again work, and
the external plugged in to onejackalso works. Yeah,it sounds backwards
to me to how the checkmark works. b ut twice it has brought the sound
back.

Hi folks,
Well the subject line says it all. I am going to try doing this a
different way. I will install/update the drivers this time while using
pulse and then i'll disable pulse afterwards. I'll let you know how it
goes.
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 with latest but Orca 2.4.1 as I've not had
the chance to update Orca since re-installing last night.
Take care
James
