Hi Jacob, well, I think we can disreguard my previous post. I looked
around and found a different directory to download from and I now have
version 3.0B instead of 3.0A. I replaced the contents into my
/usr/local/lib and all is working fine now. In fact, I'm lovin' this!
The gmail setup was excellent and I'm replying with the 'list-reply'
function. This latest version is really cool! In fact, it works much
better here with Orca than it does with Window-Eyes. The only other mail
program that has a list-reply function that I know of is mutt so I was
tickled pink to see that function added heere. I also love the
notification if a thread is collapsed or not. The windows screen readers
can't point that out.
So again, sorry folks for the false alarm; I now have thunderbird
working and this may give mutt some serious competition.

Hi Steve
I had this problem with Firefox a few days ago, and thought it was an
Orca issue for a little while at first. The problem actually turned
out to be that the FF auto-update feature failed to install the new
build properly, and resulted in the install being able to load but not
to perform any other function. If you used the auto-update (under
Help/Check for updates) and it happened after that, try re-downloading
the latest tarball and erasing and re-extracting the thunderbird
folder. Settings won't be erased, as they're not stored with the app
itself, but this will restore the application itself to a clean state
after a failed automatic update.

Has anyone been experiencing any problems with recent versions of
Thunderbird? I just tried to install a nightly build of Thunderbird
yesterday and while using Orca from git pulled about a week ago
(2.27.3). When I start the program, I get the setup dialog to
configure the mail settings but Orca stops talking at that point. I
can alt tab away to other windows and they all talk fine but The
Thunderbird configuration dialog just won't speak and flat review keys
don't work in it either. In fact, I can't exit the program at all.
I have a debug file if anyone is interested. I have used Thunderbird
in the past without these problems and I've been hearing some pretty
positive news about T Bird lately but I sure wonder now what has
happened to this fine program to make it completely unusable on my
system.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing
that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot
possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to
get at or repair.
