Hi.
Why use fedora 9? Fedora 10 is much better and more stable.
You can find the live CD at:
www.fedoraproject.org
In the download area.
Also, I don't think the fedora images on the speakup site are very good if
you want a full fedora 9 installation. Use the images from the fedora
website instead.
As for orca, Doing alt+F2 and typing orca, then following the instructions
normally works. To select the speech engine, press 1 or 2 and then press
enter. The version of orca in fedora 10 is a lot more stable. Fedora is a
great distribution. And VMware workstation is a cool piece of software! I
use the windows version and it's helped me a lot.
Good Luck!
Ashley

Subject: [orca-list] orca problem with fedora 9
I have a fresh install of fedora 9 installed from the images at the speakup
modified fedora site. I cannot get orca to work. I can open a
gnome-terminal
window and type 'orca' and it begins to speak. But it asks me to pick a
speech engine and then stops.
I usually use debian linux. I want to give fedora a try so I can try
vmware
workstation. But I am not too knowledgable about fedora. I think I have
managed to update my system. Saying 'yum update' downloaded 60+Mb of stuff
the first time and said it had nothing to do when I ran it again. So I
think
I have an up to date fedora 9 system.
