Re: [orca-list] problem with panels on archlinux

Hi Alonzo:

This is not something I can investigate further. :-( I don't have an
archlinux machine. I think the best thing to do would be to ask the
archlinux folks for some help: http://bbs.archlinux.org/

They may be unfamiliar with accessibility. If that's the case, they are
unlikely to pay attention to it or address it until community members
ask them for support.

hey Will,

Nothting happens when I navigate with the arrows. Orca stays silent. I
can press the applications key and it will go into a menu, but it
won't speak I'll press escape and it will say bottom panel. I'm not
sure who to write to solve the problem.

Hi Alonzo:

Given the information that this works on debian and fedora, it sounds
like this is an archlinux problem and they may have laid out the bottom
panel differently. From your debug log, I see you're pressing the Tab
key to try to navigate between items. What happens when you press the
left and right arrow keys?

Hello Will,

I'm using orca 2.26.3. I've never been able to read the bottom panel
in arch linux. I've always been able to see the contents in debian or
fedora, but not arch. So I'm not sure whats wrong here.

Hi Alonzo:

Which version of Orca are you using? Orca v2.27.4 has an issue with
reading embedded applets in the panel. :-(

        Hello Will,

I am wanting orca to be abel to speak the bottom pannel.
When I press ctrl-alt-tab to navigate to the pannels and the
desktop I'm only able to navigate the desktop and the top
pannel. I'm not able to navigate the bottom pannel. Pressing
tab does not do anything. Orca just stays silent. I can tab
aroudn and view the icons on the top pannel, but nothing on
        the bottom pannel.
